United Way’s Day of Caring 2019

September 13th, 2019

Here at House of Hope, we are in rigorous pursuit of providing homes, not just houses for the women and families we serve while receiving treatment at House of Hope. United Way’s Day of Caring was September 12, 2019, and we had the pleasure of working with a group of volunteers from Henkel, who so generously offered to assemble wardrobes. For those of you unfamiliar with Henkel, Henkel AG & Company is a manufacturing company that produces various chemical products, including detergents and adhesives, and dedicates its time to serving “customers and consumers worldwide as the most trusted partner with leading positions in all relevant market and categories—as a passionate team united by shared values.” Along with being committed to the satisfaction of their customers, Henkel “takes responsibility…for the quality of life in the communities in which [they] operate.” This was more than evident, when our group of 10 volunteers donated their time during their work day to enhance the living spaces of the  seven women in treatment at one of our residential facilities.

The belief that healing minds need healing spaces is deeply engrained in our mission statement, after all the most delicate flowers need calming weather and nurturing sunlight. The wardrobes our hardworking volunteers built were nothing less than shining rays in our Thursday afternoon. Although, these armoires weren’t the only thing adding bright, sunny energy to client homes. Our lovely volunteers offered a much-needed energy and optimism to the day of physical labor, laughing and smiling despite the unexpected heat. Throughout the few hours spent with us, their  vivacious energy never wavered, and we cannot express how thankful we are for Henkel’s time, service, and uplifting attitudes.
