Recovery Assistant, Overnights (SLC)

Have you been considering going into social work, women’s services, or other non-profit service organization? We are looking for part-time (up to 28 hours per week) Recovery Assistants for our OVERNIGHT/GRAVE shifts at our SALT LAKE CITY campuses. The Recovery Assistant position is a terrific option for women looking for a second job, who are at school (plenty of time for homework during overnight shifts), and/or for those looking for extra money or a new career option! These positions can be very flexible in scheduling to fit your lifestyle. While we do not split shifts, you can virtually pick your own weekly schedule with a combination of as many overnight shifts per week as fits your lifestyle. Plus, we pay an extra dollar per hour for overnight shifts.  We currently have shifts available Fridays and Saturdays from 10:30 p.m.- 8:30 a.m.

You will learn firsthand about women’s treatment, helping people grow in a therapeutic community, reunifying mothers and children, and most importantly—about your own strengths and challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide coverage in 24-hour facility during on-duty times, including the responsibility to contact on-call clinical staff in the event of unusual incidents or crises.
  • Orient new clients to schedule and house policies and procedures.
  • Monitor client compliance with curfew, house duties, and program rule requirements.
  • Conduct bed checks randomly between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
  • Conduct room searches when directed or if an immediate situation demands, such as when a client is suspected of being in possession of contraband.
  • Conduct urine analyses and/or breathe analysis, as directed.
  • May be responsible for transporting women individually or in small groups to various appointments and help get their needs met at various community programs in the community, if needed.

Qualifications

Due to licensing and supervisory regulations, this position is open to female applicants only.

We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and caring individuals who can both complete the following requirements and add to our culture of caring and understanding:

  • Be highly motivated to learn and grow, mature, and dependable.
  • Be passionate about helping women (and their young children, ages 0-8) who are working to achieve a healthier life in recovery from substance use disorders.
  • Be open to feedback, willing to try new things, and enjoy multi-tasking.
  • Be able to model healthy human interaction, coach others on effective communication, and able to stay calm in a crisis.
  • Be compassionate but able to set firm limits; communicate in a calm, yet assertive manner.

Do these qualifications match your experience, education, and/or skillset?

  • Be available for at least two shifts per week.
  • Be able to attend a mandatory staff meeting and training the 2nd & 4th Monday of each month from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (sorry, no exceptions).
  • Have basic computer skills and writing ability.
  • Have good communication and phone skills.
  • Have above-average problem-solving skills, conflict-resolution abilities, and above all, a sense of humor!

Agency Requirements for All Employees

  • Non-smoking worksite: no tobacco products allowed.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must pass extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • If in recovery, must have at least 2+ years of continuous sobriety.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and climb stairs.
  • Must have own reliable transportation, current driver’s license, clean driving record and willing to transport clients in own car and agency vehicles on occasion.
  • Must be able to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.

Education Required

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Education and experience in a field or setting related to social work or human services is preferred, but not required.

Hours & Schedule

Part-time (up to 28 hours per week) for overnight shifts: 10:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., each day of the week.

Wages & Benefits

$16/hour for overnight shifts ($15/hour for daytime and evening shifts) with potential $1/hour raise after completing all onboarding and training requirements. Part-time benefits package includes:
