FT- Recovery Support Supervisor – Provo

The position of Recovery Support Supervisor is a key management position at the Provo campus of House of Hope (HOH), a small nonprofit organization with a mission to treat substance use disorders, rebuild lives, strengthen families, and empower women. This job offers a great balance of both administrative work and person-to-person interaction. The successful applicant will lead, support, guide, and motivate staff in ensuring round-the-clock staff coverage of Recovery Assistants whose job it is to assist women (and their children) who are in residential treatment for substance use disorder. This individual should exhibit exceptional time-management skills and should demonstrate experience in successfully managing a team. Motivation and team-building strengths will be very helpful in ensuring the Recovery Support Team’s success in meeting the needs of HOH’s clients.

This critical, fulltime (40 hours per week) position is located at the Provo treatment center, which is nestled against the stunning Wasatch mountains between downtown Provo and Springville.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure scheduling of 24-hour coverage of residential programs for each shift of the Recovery Support Team: days, evenings, graves, and weekends
  • Fill-in on open shifts during emergencies or to prevent overtime or other situations affecting appropriate coverage
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of a team of 12-20 part-time support staff
  • Manage any disciplinary issues with care and concern while following HOH policies and procedures
  • Maintain positive staff morale through modeling, recognizing, and reinforcing positive change in individual employees and the program as a whole
  • Adhere to and train staff to help clients adhere to program rules in a respectful and appropriate manner to ensure smooth functioning of the facilities and professional conflict resolution between clients and staff
  • Learn and manage all necessary program paperwork, including collaborating with H.R. and other departments to ensure appropriate employee documentation and staff records
  • Ensure that employees complete daily documentation of billable time in a professional and timely manner
  • Communicate/collaborate with the children’s staff team as a liaison for the support staff team, communicating the needs and issues of the support staff
  • Communicate with community members and allied agencies, most specifically probation officers and Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) workers to represent HOH professionally and positively
  • Attend HOH Manager’s Meeting, support staff meetings, monthly clinical staff training, and monthly all-staff meeting/training.
  • Will arrange and conduct support staff meetings once monthly to ensure that staff are supervised and trained appropriately; maintain staff training logs and training modules
  • Work with HOH management to refine staff training manuals to better train and monitor staff
  • Serve as an on-call supervisor in turns with other staff for shift coverage
  • Ensure that client schedules are covered and that staff carry out duties as assigned
  • May need to perform management duties such as room searches, urinalysis of clients, house meetings/issue groups or other behavior management techniques to ensure safe functioning of facilities
  • Provide orientation to new clients and new staff during their training period
  • Be thoroughly familiar with policies and procedures of the program and able to offer input best practices

Qualifications, Experience, and Necessary Skillset:

  • FEMALE APPLICANTS ONLY (due to licensing regulations and supervisory requirements)
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required (field of Social Work, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Management is preferred)
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory/management experience required
  • Detail-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills that make others feel at ease and engaged
  • A basic understanding of substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health challenges that women face including trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and gender-specific issues of women entering treatment (either by themselves or with their children)
  • Excellent communication skills in working with diverse populations with various needs as well as multiple agencies and organizational departments
  • Proficiency at verbal and written communication
  • Enjoy problem-solving in a creative, thoughtful way
  • Prefer multi-tasking and managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provide a meticulous attention to detail
  • Be self-motivated, demonstrating initiative in developing schedules and processes to accomplish departmental and organizational goals
  • Resolve conflicts with staff, clients, agencies, and co-workers with a direct, professional, and calm manner
  • Be proficient in computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office with special emphasis in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Work calmly under stressful deadlines with proficient stress and time management and ability to be flexible with change in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy a wide variety of duties from working one-on-one with others as well as administrative duties
  • Value healthy direct communication; accept and give feedback professionally; form relationships with those who are struggling with many challenges in a compassionate and assertive manner

Agency Requirements for All Employees:

  • Non-smoking work site
  • Background check and drug test required
  • If in recovery, have at least 2+ years of sobriety
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 recommended as well as seasonal vaccination against the flu (all unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask at all times)
  • Personal, reliable transportation and Utah driver’s license/good driving record required

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in field of Social Work, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Management, or related field is required
  • One to two years of supervisory/management experience required

Hours/Schedule:

  • Fulltime, 40 hours/week
  • Schedule: M-F (2pm – 7pm), plus 15 hours (somewhat flexible) working 2 overnight, evening, and/or weekend shifts
  • Provide on-call services (with additional compensation)
