Group Specialist – PT (Afternoon)

House of Hope has a dynamic team of clinicians and support staff dedicated to helping families overcome addiction and is the oldest substance abuse program in Utah. Clinical supervision, curriculum, and training provided.


The successful House of Hope applicant will:
  • Conduct groups for women in substance use disorder treatment (residential and outpatient) on topics concerning recovery from addiction, such as relapse prevention, healthy pro-social behaviors, relationship enhancement, conflict resolution and other social, emotional, and mental health topics pivotal to stabilization and recovery
  • Actively and creatively facilitate group topics to motivate women to gain insight into negative behavior patterns and self-defeating actions and then to acquire new behavioral and cognitive skills to promote positive change.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and daily notes from group work


Do these qualifications match your education, experience, and/or skillset?
  • Someone with a current or is working towards social service (SSW) license or substance abuse license (SUDC, CSUDC, ASUDC)
  • Can engage with women from diverse backgrounds with empathy and various learning styles
  • Has a basic understanding of human behavior, addiction, group dynamics, and women’s issues
  • Has assertive communication skills and great with stress management
  • Has a Bachelor’s degree


  • Part-time (Up to 28 hours per week)
  • Tuesday-Friday, 1pm-5pm (mandatory training 2nd Monday of each month from 2:00pm – 4:00pm)


Agency Requirements:
  • Non-smoking work site
  • 21+ years old
  • Background check and drug test required
  • If in recovery, must have at least two years of sobriety
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 and seasonal vaccination against the flu required
  • Personal, reliable transportation and driver’s license required


Wages & Benefits:
  • $14-16/hour, DOE
  • Paid training
  • 401(k) dollar for dollar match up to 5% (after one year)
