House of Hope (HOH) is seeking a dynamic, personable, creative, and whole-hearted individual to serve as a Group Specialist to conduct groups for women in recovery from substance use disorder at our Salt Lake City main treatment center.

House of Hope has a dynamic team of clinicians and support staff dedicated to helping families overcome addiction and is the oldest substance abuse program in Utah, celebrating 70 years this year.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct groups for women in substance use disorder treatment (residential and outpatient) on topics concerning recovery, such as relapse prevention, healthy pro-social behaviors, relationship enhancement, conflict resolution and other social, emotional, and mental health topics pivotal to stabilization and recovery.
  • Actively and creatively facilitate group topics to motivate women to gain insight into negative behavior patterns and self-defeating actions and then to acquire new behavioral and cognitive skills to promote positive change.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping and daily notes from group work.

Qualifications

  • Can engage with women from diverse backgrounds with empathy and various learning styles
  • Has a basic understanding of human behavior, addiction, group dynamics, and women’s issues
  • Has assertive communication skills and great with stress management

Agency Requirements for All Employees

  • Non-smoking/vaping, no nicotine at work site inside or outside all facilities during all work hours.
  • Must pass extensive background check and drug test.
  • If in recovery, have at least 2 years of sobriety.
  • Vaccination recommended but not required.
  • Must have own personal, reliable vehicle to use at work and current Utah driver’s license/safe driving record required.
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 recommended as well as seasonal vaccination against the flu.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Hours & Schedule

  • Part-time (Up to 28 hours per week)
  • Tuesday-Friday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Mandatory training 2nd Monday of each month from 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

  • $18-20/hour, depending on education and experience
