Feel-Good Clothing Drive: A Partnership with Maurices!

March 11th, 2020

At House of Hope, we believe a pivotal step down the road to recovery is believing the age-old sentiment: when you look good, you feel good. Throughout their journeys in fighting substance-use disorders, our staff hopes to instill self-confidence in the heart of every woman who walks through our doors. In conjunction with our thoughtfully-designed treatment programs, House of Hope staff encourages women in-treatment to take pride in their appearance with training in basic hygiene, holiday gifts supplied with beauty products and toiletries, and volunteers that host a multitude of makeup and hairstyling tutorials. Despite pervasive misconceptions, an investment in one’s outward appearance is not a surface-level concern. Through the lens of recovery, once a woman is able to accept that she is worthy of basic grooming and self-care in the form of beauty rituals—like choosing an outfit in the morning—she will begin to understand the significance of implementing a more deeply-rooted self-care routine.

For the majority of our residential clientele, however, a new outfit is oftentimes a dream far beyond their financial reach. While many of us can mindlessly purchase a new pair of shoes or a new blouse, our clients in-treatment must rely on the generosity of people just like you—which is why House of Hope is partnering with Maurices in their Feel-Good Clothing Drive set to launch March 15th and continue through the week, until March 22nd. To contribute, simply collect your brand-new or gently-used clothing items and deliver them to the to the Jordan Landing (7089 Plaza Center Drive West Jordan, UT 84084) or West Valley location (5432 W High Market Dr, West Valley City, UT 84120) during the business hours  of 10 am-9 pm. As a thank you, Maurices will gift all participants with an in-store discount off your purchase. The bounce back coupon is for 30% off regular price purchases for March 30-April 5. Each donation will receive a bounce back coupon. With your contributions, a woman in-need will have access to a greater range of styles and sizes, as part of our in-house boutique, where women earn “Hope Dollars” via community service to purchase donated items. Here at House of Hope, we stand firmly against hand-outs of any sort. Our staff believes that working for the things you own restores confidence, encourages self-sufficiency and uplifts women in their pursuit of a self-love that is long-lasting.

We are so thankful for the Maurices staff who believe in our vision of substance-use disorder treatment and family reunification. Maurices’ Feel-Good Clothing Drive will inspire women undergoing intense substance-use disorder treatment to find their personal styles and boost their self-confidence. Join our efforts in making a difference in the community.
